The Pure Blessing
- “Till We’re Old and Gray”
Inspired by the white crown of feathers on a pure white peacock, the theme of my jewelry design is about the purity of faithful love and the single-minded lifelong marriage. I admire the vibrant colors of the tail feathers of a green peacock as well, which symbolize the passionate side of love. I want to mix up the two sides, by using pure white silver as the basis, while using colorful green/blue feathers as the highlight.
A peacock’s most outstanding feature is its feathers. What attracts me most, is their flamboyant covert feather, with the unique fan-out flowery pattern, and most significantly they feature the ornamental eyespots as their focal points. The whole pattern clearly represents joy and happiness.
On the other hand, the white feathers on white peacock’s head crown is a homonym for ‘whiteheads till old’ in Chinese. In my view, white peacock is very mysterious and sacred. The rarity of the white peacock itself also represents noble beauty, gracefulness, and mystery. There are very rich and subtle underlying meanings behind it.
Blessing
With the above inspirations and visual themes, I developed an idea of headwear and a backdrop necklace, to illustrate such a temperament of mystery and elegance. This design fits perfectly with occasions such as weddings and ceremonies. The headwear goes very well with a wedding veil, while the backdrop necklace matching any kind of low-back wedding dress.
I hope every bride can always remember every best moment of their lives, from falling in love to growing old along with their partners. I wish this jewelry design could capture such a sweet and joyful aura.
